NG SELL — ANDROID MARKETPLACE APP
Project Overview
is a mobile marketplace app built for buying and selling products locally.
NG Sell follows a classified-marketplace model where users can create product listings for sale and other users can browse available listings and evaluate products based on the information provided.
The Android application is developed using React Native and Expo and includes product listings, free and paid advertisement options, location-based functionality, API integration, and push notifications.
The main focus of the project is to keep the buying and selling process simple while giving sellers different options for promoting their listings.
ABOUT THE APPLICATION
NG Sell is a marketplace application developed by NetGram Labs as part of its digital product ecosystem.
Users can create an account, add product information, provide the required listing details, and publish products for other users to browse.
The platform supports both free and paid listing options. Free listings provide an entry point for users, while additional paid listing options can be used according to the application's configured marketplace rules.
This gives the platform a basic monetization model while still allowing new users to start using the marketplace without immediately paying for listings.

Main Features
Buy & Sell Products
The main purpose of NG Sell is to let users buy and sell products through the app.
Sellers can create product listings, while buyers can browse available products and find items they are interested in.
The overall concept follows the familiar classified-marketplace model but is implemented as its own platform under NetGram Labs.
Product Listings
Users can create listings for the products they want to sell.
A listing can contain the basic information required for someone to understand what is being offered.
The listing system is the main part of the marketplace because all buying activity starts from products published by sellers.
Free Ads
New users can publish a limited number of advertisements without paying.
Users can currently publish up to before additional paid listing options are required.
This gives users an opportunity to try the platform and list their products before moving to paid listings.
PAID LISTING OPTIONS
After the available free listing limit is reached, users can use paid listing options to publish additional advertisements.
The paid listing system provides a basic monetization layer while keeping the initial marketplace experience accessible to new users.
The pricing can be based on the type or category of product being listed.
LISTING & PRICING OPTIONS
Different products may have different listing requirements.
NG Sell is designed so that paid advertisement options can be associated with the product type or category.
For example:

↓

This gives the platform flexibility to use different pricing structures instead of applying one fixed price to every product.
LOCATION-BASED MARKETPLACE FEATURES
Location is an important part of a local marketplace.
NG Sell uses OpenStreetMap-based map functionality for location-related features within the application.
The map integration can be used to work with product locations and provide users with a better idea of where a listing is located.
Push Notifications
The app also includes push notification functionality.
Notifications can be used to keep users informed about important activity related to the application.
This is particularly useful for a marketplace because users may not keep the app open continuously.
ANDROID MOBILE EXPERIENCE
NG Sell is developed as an Android-focused marketplace application using React Native and Expo.
The application uses a shared JavaScript/TypeScript codebase while providing mobile-specific interfaces and functionality for browsing listings, creating advertisements, working with location features, and receiving notifications.

This makes the advertisement system one of the important business parts of the application.
MOBILE UX APPROACH
The interface is designed around the main actions users perform in a marketplace application.
The experience keeps product discovery, listing details, advertisement creation, location, and user actions accessible from the mobile interface.
The important parts of the experience are kept easy to reach:
- Product browsing
- Product listings
- Listing details
- Creating an advertisement
- Location
- User actions
The goal is not to make the app feel like a complicated e-commerce platform. It is more focused on the simple classified-marketplace experience of finding a product or putting something up for sale.
Challenges
BUILDING A TWO-SIDED MARKETPLACE
A marketplace needs to support both buyers and sellers. The application therefore needs separate flows for discovering products and creating listings while keeping the overall experience consistent.
FREE & PAID LISTING LOGIC
The advertisement system needs to keep track of how many free ads a user has already used.
Once the free limit is reached, the application needs to move the user towards the appropriate paid listing option.
LOCATION & MAP INTEGRATION
Location is an important part of local buying and selling.
The map implementation needed to work properly inside the React Native application while keeping the map experience usable on mobile devices.
PUSH NOTIFICATION SUPPORT
Marketplace activity can happen even when the application is closed.
Push notifications provide a way to bring important updates back to the user without requiring them to keep checking the app manually.
MOBILE APP DEVELOPMENT PROCESS
The application was developed feature by feature around the main marketplace workflow.
The development process included:
- Planning the marketplace structure
- Designing the mobile screens
- Setting up the React Native / Expo project
- Building user flows
- Creating product listing functionality
- Implementing free listing limits
- Implementing paid listing options
